How dentistry fits into the new landscape

Dr Osman and his Team hope you are keeping fit and healthy and staying safe, during these difficult times, as we continue to adapt to the challenges presented by corona virus.

You are aware the Prime Minister announced a change in the pandemic approach and advice (in England), thoughts are only now inevitably focusing on how dentistry fits into the revised landscape.

At present the distinct existing advice for practices within the four UK countries still applies. This means practices are still to treat patients who are experiencing dental pain via advice, analgesics and antibiotics where appropriate, and to further triage care into the various urgent care systems.

The Office of the CDO in England has reinforced the ‘no change yet‘ message. Only today they have stated: ‘the temporary cessation of routine dentistry addresses the safety of patients and of dental teams as well as supporting the public health measures required to slow community transmission of COVID-19’.

BDA Chair Mick Armstrong, Health Minister Jo Churchill and CDO Sara Hurley are under discussion on the general approach in England, both for NHS and private dental practices, about dentistry emerging from the lockdown.

Although it remains that, at present we are unable to see patient at the practice.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your understanding during these difficult times. My goal is for me and my team to be ready for this date and would like to promise you we are doing all we can to work within guidelines so our patients are kept pain free. Once we have been given this information Our dental receptionists will be in touch to reschedule appointments once it is safe to do so. There will be changes to the way we will be allowed to see but I can assure you that these changes will be for your and my team safety, we will endeavour to provide a great service.

Yours sincerely
