What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a state-of-the-art alternative to braces that is practically undetectable to other people. Teeth can grow into crooked positions or sometimes become more overlapped or crowded with time. As well as a poor smile, crooked teeth can affect the health of teeth, gums, gums and jaw joints, particularly as they are more difficult to clean around.
Invisalign is comfortable to wear, straightening your teeth not with brackets and wires, but with a series of clear, customised appliances called aligners. Invisalign is non-irritating to your mouth and easily removable. Because there are no metal or wires with Invisalign, you spend far less time in the practice getting adjustments. Invisalign uses advanced 3-D computer technology to create your customised aligners.
How does it work?
Your Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly visible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next meet of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only.
Once we receive your aligners, you wear your first one for about two weeks, taking the easily removed aligner out for eating, brushing and flossing. Over time, as you replace each aligner approximately every two weeks with the next, your teeth will move gradually, until they move into the final alignment that we prescribed.
During your treatment, you can usually eat whatever you desire because you remove your aligners to eat and drink. This is yet another advantage over traditional orthodontic (teeth-straightening) methods, where there can be many food restrictions.
What a difference Invisalign makes
This pleasant lady was mainly concerned with crowding but wanted teeth straightening without any extractions despite having an overjet, in as little time as possible. 6 MONTHS SMILES was used as means of the fixed braces appliances which took slightly longer of approximately 9 months due to the degree of crowding as the patient was forewarned. NOTE the change in shapes of the width of certain teeth to improve ratios whilst simultaneously allowing us to reduce the crowding. Whitening was done followed by some resin bonding to improve aesthetics. Even non-ideal treatment protocols can leave you smiling wide!
This young and pleasant patient, was concerned of the significant crowding, narrow arch and discoloured teeth. A removable appliance was used to initially expand the arch followed by 6 Months smiles as means of fixed braces and lastly whitening. The treatment time was approximately 9 months but the results were certainly worth the wait!
AN UNUSUAL CASE - The patient presented approximately 4-5 months prior to his wedding wanting to close the gaps. We started with fixed braces to reduce the gaps as much as possible then temporarily used the clear removable retainer to 'hold' or retain the results during his wedding and honeymoon period. Whitening was also done prior to the whitening. After the wedding, fixed braces were placed back on to continue to complete the treatment. To see the significant change just prior to his wedding and the completed results was just immensely rewarding for both the patient and us at Bridge Dental and Implant Clinic!
